ABOUT OUR NETWORK
The Safe Food Network Trade Shows & Retail Supply Chains is comprised of food safety professionals, food producers and importers, trade show managers, food retailers, researchers, as well as government export agencies throughout the world. Our organization welcomes members who are engaged in safe food procedures or in presenting safe food at shows and stores in the United States.
The U.S. instituted the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) in 2011, the most sweeping change in the country’s food laws since 1938. With the passing of that legislation, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) changed its approach from reaction to prevention of food borne illnesses to better protect public health. FSMA was designed to transform the nation’s food safety system with the understanding that safe food is a shared responsibility among points in the global supply chain. FSMA brought new regulations for all companies that supply food to the U.S. market, including foreign food suppliers. FDA now requires that any food imported in the U.S. be produced in a manner that provides the same level of public health protection as required of domestic suppliers, and that these processes are verified.
With the Safe Food Network, we unite food producers, suppliers and importers with the professionals who are engaged in every facet of food safety. Together we aim to improve the knowledge and the vital processes that will help us all to achieve a safer food future.
